Crestview Aerospace is a manufacturing organization working closely with large aircraft and weapon systems OEMs, such as Boeing Defense, Bell, RTX/Collins Aerospace, Northrop Grumman and several others to deliver complex design-to-build and build-to print assemblies. Crestview Aerospace provides these assemblies in support of in-service platforms, such as: H-47, V-22, F-35, F-15, F-16, F-18, KC-135, E-2, and weapon systems such as Harpoon and SLAM-ER. Crestview Aerospace is comprised of two (2) manufacturing sites, with operations in St. Louis, Missouri and Crestview, FL, and employs approximately 300 professionals.

Description

We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our skilled manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up and operate a variety of precision equipment to fabricate parts, tools, and fixtures for critical aerospace applications. You will work closely with blueprints, engineering specifications, and advanced machining practices to ensure all parts meet rigorous quality standards. Your expertise will be key in ensuring the efficient operation of equipment and the production of high-quality components for leading aerospace programs.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Set Up and Operate Equipment: Set up and operate various machining equipment including CNC milling machines, flatbed CNC gantry, Water Jet, Lathe, Bridgeport, and EZTRAC machines to manufacture precision parts, tools, and fixtures.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Machining Processes: Determine the sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and appropriate methods of setup. Use advanced precision measuring equipment and standard shop computations to guide machining tasks.
  • Machining Practices: Apply industry-standard practices for tooling, setup, feeds, and speeds to ensure optimal efficiency and quality during production.
  • Precision Assembly: Fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment, ensuring alignment and functionality.
  • Material and Equipment Selection: Determine the necessary materials, parts, and equipment required to complete assigned tasks effectively.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work performed meets the required quality standards, procedural guidelines, and engineering specifications. Conduct self-inspections to verify part quality.
  • Maintenance of Equipment: Maintain and ensure that all machining equipment is in good working condition. Perform basic maintenance and report any issues or necessary repairs to management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members, engineers, and other departments to resolve machining issues and improve production efficiency.

Professional Requirements, Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certification in machining or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a machinist, preferably in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in operating CNC milling machines, lathes, and other machining equipment. Familiarity with Water Jet, Bridgeport, and EZTRAC machines is a plus.
  • Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Machining Skills: Advanced knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, setup, and feeds/speeds. Ability to work with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining challenges independently and as part of a team.
  • Quality Control: Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality, defect-free parts.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and reporting production progress.
  • Shift Flexibility: Ability to work any shift, including overtime and weekends, as required to meet production deadlines.
  • Confidentiality: Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive company and proprietary data.

Physical Requirements:

Primarily manufacturing/assembly environment. Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current. Must be able to bend and reach. Must have close visual acuity such as viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines, and/or assembly or fabrication parts at close distance to the eyes. Must adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves as required. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to maneuver up to 20 pounds. Will be performing substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. May involve occasional travel to suppliers or other company locations.
