POC/Expeditor

Position Summary

The Expeditor is responsible for the timely movement, coordination, and distribution of work orders and materials throughout the production process. This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient workflow and ensuring production schedules are met by identifying and addressing bottlenecks and delays.

Essential Functions

  • Expedite parts and work orders to and from work centers per the Manufacturing Method outlined in the work order, minimizing queue and wait time.
  • Use push-carts and other material handling equipment to transport parts; moderate lifting required.
  • Check accuracy of work orders, including part quantities and proper operation stamps.
  • Adhere to safe and efficient materials handling practices that prevent product damage and personnel injury.
  • Sequence and dispatch work orders based on priority, part type, operation, and batching methods using tools such as the Operations Schedule and the Hot Parts List.
  • Locate, prioritize, and resolve issues with stalled or missing work orders.
  • Participate in WIP (Work-In-Process) cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Tag and monitor Quick Response and AOG (Aircraft on Ground) priority orders, providing daily status updates.
  • Track and report on production flow, delays, constraints, bottlenecks, cycle times, and kit shortages using visual management tools.
  • Coordinate with Team Leads and Purchasing to follow up on kit and material shortages, updating work order dates as needed.
  • Support Manufacturing and Assembly departments with workflow and process improvements.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives (e.g., AIWs, Kaizen events) to enhance production efficiency and streamline material flow.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Must be able to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and flexible hours as required.
  • Must adhere to Company policies/procedures and management instructions.
  • Computer literacy required; must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic data entry.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and Company proprietary data.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and reporting.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production flow within the facility.
  • Ability to interpret and follow manufacturing methods and sequences.
  • Must be able to obtain any required certifications for material handling or equipment operation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and transport materials using push-carts.
  • May require standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely lift moderately heavy items as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to welding fumes, heat, grinding, and noise.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
  • May require extended hours or weekend work to meet production schedules.

Physical Requirements

Primarily manufacturing/assembly environment. Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current. Must be able to bend and reach. Must have close visual acuity such as viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines, and/or assembly or fabrication parts at close distance to the eyes. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to maneuver up to 50 pounds. Will be performing substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
